Excellence in Teaching Award Evaluation Criteria

The FCMEA Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes distinguished teaching and contributions to collegiate music education in Florida. Consistent with the purposes of FCMEA, applications will be evaluated in four areas:

Excellence in Collegiate Teaching — evidence of effective teaching and meaningful student learning, growth, mentorship, and development.

Program Improvement and Advancement — contributions that strengthen the candidate's music program, curriculum, students, or institution.

Professional Growth and Collegiate Community — continued development as an educator and contributions to collaboration, communication, mentorship, or the broader collegiate music community.

Overall Distinction and Impact — the significance and quality of the candidate's teaching accomplishments considered as a whole.

FCMEA recognizes that excellent collegiate music teaching occurs in institutions with differing missions, resources, student populations, and faculty responsibilities.
